P. Sherman 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney

Our first experiences in Sydney were overwhelming. After getting up at 3:30 to catch our flight and also lugging around our big travel packs, we were exhausted. Plus we had no idea where to start as far as the city went...long story short, we ended up finding a place to stay thru airbnb but it was absolutely terrible. I made sure that we had places to stay for the next few nights so we wouldn't be stuck in that situation again.

Our first night there, we ate a bagged salad and a ham sandwich in Darling Harbour, which is one of the bigger harbours in Sydney. It felt like something out if Finding Nemo with all the seagulls hounding us for food! But the harbour was great, all kinds of restaurants and people hanging out, good people watching ;) Our second day there, we went down to Circular Quay, which is where the opera house is. It was much nicer than being in the midst of the skyscrapers and business people rushing to get to work. We wandered around for most of the day before we took the bus to the second place that we had made arrangements to stay at for the rest of our time in Sydney. It was outside the city  and much quieter.

This guy took me out for breakfast in Darling Harbour :D

huh.

Accidental selfies. Good thing Don didn't have any boogers.

Again, no boogies, thank goodness.

Met Johnny Depp!

My impression of Stefan Meyers from SNL.

Hanging out in the Botanical Gardens.

Fancy dinner at our host's home!

Our third day in Sydney, we wandered around more because it was sunny and warm, unlike the previous two days which had been chilly and cloudy.

Our last day, we headed to Bondi Beach. We took a bus to Coogee Beach and walked the 6km coastal walk to Bondi Beach, which was absolutely breathtaking. We went in the water and thankfully didn't come across any sharks or jelly fish! Success! The water was so warm and clear and beautiful. We laid on the beach for a few hours before we headed to Icebergs Bondi Beach Club for some food and drinks. The beach club was literally right on the water...for our Rhode Island friends, think a fancier version of Ocean Mist :)

Breathtaking.

While we were walking around the beach, somehow we got asked if we wanted to participate in a attempt to break a geniuses book of world record while also protesting their prime minister, Tony Abbott. We had no idea about him at all or any of the issues that people here have with him. Anyways, we were going to try and break the record for how many people having their head in the sand at once for two minutes because Tony Abbott has had "his head in the sand about climate change for the last few years." So we participated because it was something different and actually pretty cool! Just a bunch of people hanging out on the beach while we waited to start. Then we dug a hole and yup, we put our heads in the sand for two minutes! Pretty entertaining :)

Digging our way to a world record. Sadly, I couldn't take any photos when my head was in the sand.
That evening, we got dinner with Cathy, the woman we had stayed with in Christchurch because she was there on a business trip the same time we were there.
