On one of our last days in Wellington, we hiked, or tramped as the Kiwi's say here, to see the Putangirua Pinnacles (which are seen in the
The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King during the scene in the Paths of the Dead) and then climbed the 250 steps to the top of the Cape Palliser Lighthouse.
It was an all around breathtaking day...meaning both that I was huffing and puffing a lot from climbing stairs and tramping and also that the beauty of this country cannot be described as anything less than breathtaking. Don often acts as my paparazzi since he has the amazing camera and photography skillz and this day I think he must have thought I was looking particularly lovely or something because he captured quite a few pictures of me...most of them completely candid. After we hiked to see the Pinnacles, I was sweating like crazy and so I changed into a dress, which was so freeing and wonderful feeling. I haven't had much of a chance to dress up or give much thought into how I look so far on this trip, which was completely expected, but it was just fun to wear a dress and remember how wonderful it is to wear something other than the same three outfits every day :)

The pinnacles were formed from erosive rain water and streams washing away the dirt and growth to reveal the ancient gravel and rock formations underneath |

I ran down all 250 steps and my dress was flying out behind me like a cape |

Don thought this was funny :D |
